The BARK shelter was started in June 2014 as a safe refuge for dogs rescued from abuse, abandonment and injury. Our no-kill free-range shelter is a happy haven for dogs of all ages. We have 68 dogs at our shelter of which 17 are puppies, three crippled and two suffering from cancer. This number has increased by 20 dogs since the beginning of 2018 as we have had an unprecedented number of rescues and abandoned puppies.
We have two paid caretakers who look after the shelter and feed the dogs. These boys start work at 5.30am with cooking for the dogs and cleaning the shelter. They care for the animals everyday and also feed the dogs in the city pound, and in our project areas.
Our dogs in the rescue center are all spayed and neutered and rabies vaccinated and have been given 5-in-1 vaccines. The healthy ones are all available for adoption. In the past four years, we had adopted out 77 pets to good homes, and we periodically give them surprise visits.
Our shelter is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday by appointment. Please send us a message if you would like to visit.
